Someone shout last week for more records of the legendary Farroupilha label, recognized for his excellence on recording quality and above the average releases. There is another attribute, Farroupilha albums are in general very hard to find, and perhaps the reason for making their records sought after by collectors.
Maybe I’m wrong, Caetano sent to us one of the impossible to find, requested by many collectors at Loronix since the very first beginning. Let’s see.
This is Edison Penha e Altamir Penha – Violoes em HI-FI (1966), for Farroupilha. Little I knew about this album, I thought it was a violao only record performed by a duo, but they are backed by Airto Moreira (drums), Azeitona and Zezinho (bass) in some tracks. In spite of playing a really nice guitar, Edison and Altamir Penha are not musicians, they own an industry, Companhia Penha de Maquinas Agricolas and probably never had the chance (or decided) to record another album. I think the mystery of this obscure album and these obscure guys has gone to a term with this post. I will now let with you.
Altamir Penha, Edison Penha
01 – Nós e o Rio (Altamir Penha / Édison Penha)
02 – Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
03 – Carinhoso (Pixinguinha)
04 – Menina Flor (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo)
05 – Odeon (Ernesto Nazareth)
06 – Olê Olá (Chico Buarque)
07 – Simone (Altamir Penha)
08 – Samba Society (Altamir Penha)
09 – Mágoas do Coração (Altamir Penha)
10 – Patrícia (Édison Penha)
11 – Samba Meu (Altamir Penha)
12 – Tempo Feliz (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
