Nara Leão, Edu Lobo & Tamba Trio – 5 na Bossa (1965)

.

Originalmente postado no Loronix em 08 de dezembro 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.

Here we go with another essential album being reposted at Loronix. It’s unbeliveable this one did not have a repost yet, it was released in June 2006, one of the first albums made available at Loronix. Things have changed since then, the original post had a single file of 32Mb with ten tracks at MP3 format and now a single track on FLAC, 10 – Consolacao, has 42Mb. Each aspect was upgraded, including a better scan of this awesome cover artwork. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao, Edu Lobo & Tamba Trio – 5 na Bossa (1965), for Philips, a live recording featuring 3 of the most groundbreaking artists of the bossa era. The set was recorded in one of the Bossa Nova temples in the 60′s, Teatro Paramount in Sao Paulo. I think 5 na Bossa brings one of the first Nara Leao live recordings, her voice is lovely as usual, but a little bit constrained in some tracks. She performs alone in four tracks and duets with Edu Lobo on Aleluia, which is the track I like most on this set. Edu Lobo performs on three tracks while Tamba Trio has two instrumental cuts and delivers accompaniment all over the session.

Tracks include:

Personnel

NARA LEAO
EDU LOBO
TAMBA TRIO

Luiz Eca
(piano, vocals)

Bebeto
(bass, flute, vocals)

Ohana
(drums, vocals)

Track List

01 – Carcará (João do Vale / José Cândido) – NARA LEAO
02 – Reza (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra) – EDU LOBO
03 – O Trem Atrasou (Vilarinho / Estanislau Silva / Paquito) – NARA LEAO
04 – Zambi (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes) – EDU LOBO
05 – Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes) – TAMBA TRIO
06 – Aleluia (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra) – NARA LEAO / EDU LOBO
07 – Cicatriz (Zé Keti / Hermínio Bello de Carvalho) – NARA LEAO
08 – Estatuinha (Edu Lobo / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri) – EDU LOBO
09 – Minha História (João do Vale / Raimundo Evangelista) – NARA LEAO

Grande escolha.

Fantastic album! And the recording is excellent, not quite as good for the Tamba Trio but exceptional for Nara and Edu.

Tamba 4 - Tamba 4 (1969) Recorded in Mexico

..
Originalmente postado no Loronix em 28 de maio 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.

When I was planning with Caetano our next Tuesday All Countries at Loronix homage we spent a lot of time trying to realize how great would be Bossa Nova in Mexico and how many albums were recorded in Mexico by Brazilian artists. By heart, I can list, Tamba Trio, Leny Andrade, Joao Gilberto, Carlos Lyra and many others. Our estimate is that several unknown albums are available in Mexico, recorded by Brazilian artists or Bossa Nova albums recorded by Mexican musicians. That's the spirit of All Countries at Loronix, to identify music and also create links to music websites to our community and develop knowledge exchange with both countries.

That's why the closing post today is dedicated to a Brazilian group recording Brazilian music in the country that should bring most information though our initiative. Mexico.

This is Tamba 4 - Tamba 4 (1969), for Orfeon Videovox (Mexico). The last Tamba 4 LP, which is the continuation of Tamba Trio as a quartet. For this last LP, Tamba 4 features Tamba Trio members Bebeto and Ohana plus Laercio de Freitas and Dorio Ferreira, the production is in charge of Mariano Rivera Conde. Thanks Caetano for making Tamba 4 available to Loronixers.

Tracks include:
Personnel

Bebeto
(congas, flute)
Ohana
(drums)
Laercio de Freitas
(piano, flute)
Dorio Ferreira
(bass)

Track List

01 - Correnteza (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar)
02 - Se Você Pensa (Roberto Carlos)
03 - Juliana (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar)
04 - Lenga-lenga (Laércio de Freitas)
05 - Veracruz (Milton Nascimento)

Zeca, Thanks for some more good instrumental! In your comments, you call this album "Tamba 4", but in the track ID's you call it "Pais Tropical". The tracks are the same, but in different orders. Is one a reissue? Different cover?
Thanks, Flat

Flautist,
Oh! Bad. This is a mistake of mine. I took track list info from a website that was probably referencing a reissue made in 1995 as Pais Tropical. Anyway, the music is exactly the same with tracks order as the exception.
Cheers, zeca

I LOVE this album....I've always had a crappy Mexican CD budget reissue with horrible sound on the left channel and OK sound on the right, and sides one and two reversed in order...called "Pais Tropical"....the same one Zeca is referring to!! Anyway, my favorite version of "Correnteza" is on this LP and "Pensando" is incredible as well.

Antecipadamente grato

Bebeto - Bebeto (1975)

Faixa nr. 8 está consertada! Track 8 fixed.
.

I read several good reviews for this LP and never had the chance to hear. What to expect from a solo LP of Bebeto, member of Tamba Trio, bassist and flute player, accompanied by Tamba Trio members Helcio Milito and Luiz Eca? Surprising, this album does have any kind of connection with Tamba Trio music, but an emotional, subtle and kind work of Bebeto. It seems to be home made, so relaxing is the overall performance of Bebeto and members on the set.

This is Bebeto - Bebeto (1975), for Tapecar, first and only Bebeto Castilho LP with Bebeto (bass, flute and vocals), Laercio de Freitas (piano), Luiz Eca (piano on tracks 01, 02, 07 and 11), Helcio Milito (drums), Durval Ferreira (cavaquinho) and Bebeto, Cida, Jayme, Fabiola and Laercio de Freitas (vocals). Laercio de Freitas was also in charge of arrangements. Thanks to Caetano Rodrigues for another great contribution to Loronixers.

Tracks include:

01 - Batuque (Lisyas E. Oliveira / José Edmundo Guedes)
02 - Pra Não Chorar (Lisyas E. Oliveira / José Edmundo Guedes)
03 - Salgueiro Chorão (Durval Ferreira)
04 - Nosotros (Nós) (Danilo Caymmi / Joyce)
05 - Tristeza de Nós Dois (Durval Ferreira / Maurício Einhorn / Bebeto)
06 - Deja-me Ir (Mike Ribas / Dico Novarro)
07 - Mendigo e Ladrão (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Estardalhaço (Lisyas E. Oliveira / José Edmundo Guedes)
09 - Canção do Nosso Amor (Silveira)
10 - Voltei ao Meu Lugar (Pixinguinha)
11 - Moça Flor (Luis Fernando Freire)
12 - Razão de Viver (Eumir Deodato)

Great ! thank you very much for this. It seems that the track 8 is corrupted but the rest is working. Relaxed music is the word. Thanks again.

I was able to unzip this whole file (including track 8) by downloading in Safari (Mac OS 10.4.8), opening the .download folder that the browser downloaded, then unzipping the .zip file within.
Very good album; I like Luizinho's playing on the Fender Rhodes piano too!

Hello,
I confirm corruption of track 8, which ends abruptly while listening to it.
Thanks, anyway !

New file for track 8 is gone :(

yourbartender on Tuesday, 05 February, 2008

track 8 still missing... I could only archive on mac using terminal: move .zip file to a folder and type unzip * (make sure you don't have any other zip files in that folder or they will be extracted as well). Quite mellow but smooth Bebeto here, compared to the song Princesa Negra d'Angola for example.

Zeca,
A faixa 8 continua corrompida.
Será que daria para corrigir?

Bebeto is one GREAT flute player - he's not a real flashy virtuoso, but, damn, for me his tone, sound and whole style is an ideal: I love him!
Thanks for this, Zeca, it's a great one!

A pity that we don't have a reply of zecalouro about the problem with track 8...

I'm sorry.
I'm a busy parrot.
Perhaps we need to wait a little bit for this replacement. This album belongs to Caetano Rodrigues and my plan is to get this fixed on a trip I have scheduled to Sao Paulo next month.

My apologies.

Kind regards,
zeca
