The last days were so amazing that I did remember to keep my promise of posting a Samba or Bossa Jazz LP. Anyway, let’s get back on trail with another obscure release for the always-surprising label Paladium from Minas Gerais.

This is Samba Trio – Samba pra Frente (1966), for Paladium (60.002-A), as usual, no much information is available
about Samba Trio and this LP. Trix, since you live in Minas Gerais, any help is appreciated; the back cover brings the address of Paladim in the 60’s, who know? I’m including the label picture this time just to show how plain Paladium is on making information available.

Remember that LP that made a great noise about the color of the cover? Conjunto Carcara – Barra Limpa, the one with two chicken at the cover with a blue background, in fact red, it was changed by the friend who made the rip for fun, to see where the record would reach after time.

This release has in common with Conjunto Carcara the is that both are from the mysterious record label Paladium from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Kindly sent by Trix, this is Hugo Luiz – Hugo Luiz, seu Violao e Ritmo, Bossa Hugo (196?), Paladium.

Believe me, really obscure. I started a small quest with Trix to gather information about Hugo Luiz, unfortunately, no success. Anyway, if someone has additional information about Hugo Luiz, please let us know.

Biografia resumida (informações fornecidas pelo próprio artista):

Hugo Luiz (Hugo Luiz Azeredo Coutinho) nasceu em São João Del Rey, Minas Gerais, Brasil, em 24 de agosto de 1942.
1953 - Inicia atividades como ator em um grupo próprio.
1954 - É convidado por Luiz Panzi, um dos diretores teatrais da Rádio Guarani em Belo Horizonte para o rádio teatro.
1955 - Participa da inauguração da TV Itacolomi (3ª televisão surgida no Brasil)
1957 - Começa a estudar música após ter que compor um samba para uma peça teatral. Estuda harmônica de boca e depois violão. No mesmo ano já se apresenta como músico em rádio e tv.
1958 - Começa a fazer arranjos para a Orquestra da Radio Guarani/TV.Itacolomi e a compor.
1961 - Tem seu registro na OMB-MG onde consta como instrumento o contrabaixo
1965 - Grava na "PALADIUM" onde atuava com frequência o 1º "BOSSA-HUGO"
1965 - Grava na "PALADIUM" o 2º "BOSSA-HUGO"
1966 - Participa do 1º Festival Internacional da Canção, promovido pela TV Rio, como orquestrador
1966 - É escolhido o melhor instrumentista da tv
1967 - Compõe a trilha da peça Ooh, oh, oh, Minas Gerais" que obteve grande sucesso (é montada até hoje)
1968 - Participa do 3º Festival Internacional da Canção onde defende a composição de J.Dangelo "Festas e Tradições Populares". a música foi classificada para a final mas foi censurada.
1968 -Iinicia maiores contatos com Widmer, Smetak, e outros compositores vanguardistas.
1974 - Tournée com quinteto pela África do Sul onde atua com Sarah Vaughan, Steve Curry, Robert Rubinsky, Jimmy Cobb, e outros.

Apesar do disco ter uma saida fora do normal a gravadora não fez cópias da matriz. Quando ela partiu (pelo uso), tivemos que fazer um segundo disco onde regravei várias músicas do primeiro com arranjos simples para cobrir "buraco" e mais 4 müsicas como “bonus”.
Estas 4 musicas tiveram boa aceitação e alavancaram a venda até a dissolução da gravadora.

Hello, good evening! Let’s start today showing an album released by this tiny, but legendary and influential label Paladium, a favorite of 10 among 10 serious Bossa Nova collectors. Palladium was the first recording label established in the state of Minas Gerais, working close with Minas Gerais artists at the beginning of their career. However, these artists are not credited on Paladium albums with their real artistic names, such as this album, a very early recording by an obscure Antonino Pellicciari, which is in fact the renowned Maestro Aecio Flavio.

These findings are being revealed by our friend vinylmaniac at CBox and several Paladium collectors, such like Marcelo “Sambassonic” Munhoz cannot wait to hear the next finding by vinylmaniac. This is the reason why I’m posting this album in the Para Dancar style, how could I know that Antonino Pellicciari was Maestro Aecio Flavio nickname. Let’s see.

This is Antonino Pellicciari e Seu Conjunto – MGL Apresenta Sucessos do Momento (1963), for Paladium, featuring Maestro Aecio Flavio as Antonino Pellicciari. This album was one of the first ones released by Paladium, directed by Maestro Edmundo Peruzzi, which will be the next Paladium release at Loronix.
