Hello! Good Evening! Just want to start announcing that the gift to the winner of Loronix All Countries celebration is already defined, the involved parts reach an agreement and we have green lights to show it tomorrow. Believe-me, it is a truly amazing gift the winner will be receiving this time. It will fit nice to people in Brazil and outside of Brazil. Stay tuned for forthcoming announces. That's right.

Our second and last Samba dope of the weekend is provided by Moos, from The Netherlands. Moos has a respectable collection. He sent me a picture of him among his LPs, in a first sight I thought he took the photo at a record store, I was wrong.

This is Sambistas do Asfalto - Assim e o Samba (1960), for Damic. There are several surprises Moos please us with this pretty unknown group. Os Sambistas do Asfalto is directed by the legendary Astor Silva that takes also trombone playing, additionally, we have renowned musicians, such like Copinha (flute), Moacyr Marques (sax tenor), among others, everything is provided on personnel listing. Thanks for this album Moos, I think Sambistas do Asfaltos is known by only a few Loronixers and they really deserve our attention.

Marisa Barros & Astor Silva – Marisa Barroso / Astor (1963)

Brazilian female singers have something special. Nelson Motta said one day that Brazil is a country of female singers. I agree.

Our community gives always a nice feedback on Brazilian divas. It is time to remember a Brazilian diva that was introduced to us by Caetano Rodrigues, Thelma Soares or just Thelma. I’m quite sure that only a few Loronixers knew Thelma before presented here.

Caetano is now thrilling us with a new female singer and I think she can make as Thelma.

Meet Marisa Barroso with the legendary Astor Silva from Os Ipanemas.

This is Marisa Barroso & Astor Silva – Marisa Barroso / Astor (1963), for Columbia. Thelma was revealed by Vinicius de Moraes and Beatriz Azevedo de Brito by Ary Barroso, this is the reason for the artistic name. Marisa Barroso recorded several 78rpm and three LPs, such as Thelma that also made three albums. Anyway, I think it is better hear Marisa Barroso & Astor Silva, instead of finding coincidences. Astor is a top-notch musician that we know for several albums at Loronix, performing the roles of trombonist and arranger.

Tracks include:

01 – Chorando Você (Glauco / Fernando Pereira / João Ribeiro)
02 – Ele e Maria (Othon Russo / Niquinho)
03 – Banca de Pobre (Rildo Hora / Marcos André)
04 – Bondinho do Pão de Açúcar (Victor Freire / A. C. de Albuquerque)
05 – Abc do Balanço (Orlandivo / Roberto Nascimento)
06 – Esse Seu Olhar (Tom Jobim) — Só Em Teus Braços (Tom Jobim)
07 – Bossa Nova Nº 1 (José Maria de Abreu)
08 – Ódio (Aloísio Figueiredo / Nelson Figueiredo)
09 – Lamento Negro (Orlandivo / Roberto Jorge)
10 – Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 – Vou Ficar Com Você (Sergio Napp)
12 – Brincando Gostei (Watel / Orlandivo)

“Uff,yeahh” Caetano makes my day.
Unbelievable! Yesterday I thought about this Barros/Silva Lp of my vinil collection -very worry about knowing about the poor condition of my Lp in hope to find a better one day and this morning I woke up and what see my eyes- Such things are only possible with Caetano-who elese can show better the history of the bossa nova years than Caetano.
Thanks so much.

Best wishes

Hello, Good Evening. I’m amazed and really grateful to cvllos for sending this fantastic album to our community, a never released album recorded by one of our favorites, the legendary Juarez Araujo, also known as just Juarez, introduced to our community by Jean do Trombone and bossanovadreamer. This is Juarez – O Inimitavel Juarez (1962), for Masterplay, featuring Juarez sax tenor renditions of Brazilian standards on side A and international standards on side B. Originalmente postado no Loronix em 04 de julho 2007.

Hello, Good Evening! Wooow! Sorry, I could not control my enthusiasm when I opened the new Caetano Rodrigues packaged and found this fantastic album. My first contact was at Caetano’s place in Sao Paulo. I look to Caetano and asked: “Can I get someday to Loronix?” and he said “Yes!!”. Since then it has been more than a month until the arrival today. I decided to make it first and I hope you get the same good feelings when hearing this fantastic album, like I had this afternoon.

This is Maciel – Maciel Toca, Voce Danca (1960), for Polydor. Maciel cannot be taken as Ed Maciel, which is also a trombonist. Maciel has many years of collaboration to Brazilian music; being also a Classical musician, member of Orquestra Sinfonica do Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro.
Maciel blows great here and several Brazilian Maestros delivers arrangements to Maciel Danca, Voce Toca, as follows: Astor Silva, Moacir Santos (yep!), Severino Filho, K-Ximbinho and Cipo. Personnel listing is not available, but arrangers are associated to each track bellow.

Tracks include:

The Arrangers:

Astor Silva
“Maciel na Gafieira”, “O Que Fazer”, “Ginga das Palmas”

Moacir Santos
“Blue Gardenia”, “Night and Day”

Severino Filho
“A Felicidade”, “Stella by Starlight”, “O Nosso Amor”, “Tu mi Delirio”

K-Ximbinho
“Gracas a Deus”, “Joga a Rede no Mar”

Cipo
“Como e Bom Amar”

Track List

01 – Maciel na Gafieira (Ed Maciel)
02 – Blue Gardênia (B. Russell / L. Lester)
03 – A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Graças a Deus (Ivan Paulo da Silva “Carioca”)
05 – Que Fazer (Jaime Florence “Meira” / Jota Santos)
06 – Stella By Starlight (V. Young / N. Washington)
07 – Night And Day (Cole Porter)
08 – O Nosso Amor (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 – Tu Mi Delirio (C. Portillo de La Luz)
10 – Ginga das Palmas (Ivan Paulo da Silva “Carioca”)
11 – Joga a Rede no Mar (Fernando César / Nazareno de Brito)
12 – Como É Bom Amar (Maciel)

300 Discos Importantes:
Ao contrário do que diz o Zeca, acredito que este Maciel é, sim, o Ed Maciel, também conhecido como Edmundo Maciel -
http://musicosdobrasil.com.br/ed-maciel . Seu irmão mais novo, Edson Maciel, também trombonista, seguia uma linha mais jazzista - http://musicosdobrasil.com.br/edson-maciel e parece não ter nenhum disco solo.

Tito Madi - Amor e Paz (1963)

..
Originalmente postado no Loronix em 28 de maio 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.

This is a contribution of a great enthusiast of the music from Brazil, a great enthusiast of Loronix and a very good friend of zecalouro, the legendary bossanovadreamer, one of the first bloggers who created and maintained a blog dedicated to Bossa Nova at blogspot.com. bossanovadreamer dedicated this post to so many people that I will not list them here, I will just dedicate to Loronixers, which is everybody who stay connected with our community. Thanks bossanovadreamer, the effort you put on Brazilian music cause has no parallel.

This is Tito Madi - Amor e Paz (1963), for Entre/CBS, with orchestra arrangements, direction and conduction by Astor Silva. Self-explanatory release awaited by many Loronixers. I received a message from a friend saying that Loronix needs to approach more Tito Madi albums. I agree, Tito Madi discography is huge, mainly from the late 50's to 60's where he released almost fifteen LPs and 10-inches. Thanks for this one, bossanovadreamer.

Tracks include:

01 - Jogado Fora (João Mello)
02 - Amor e Paz (Tito Madi)
03 - Com o Amor Não Se Brinca (Romeo Nunes / Carlito)
04 - Ah Se Eu Pudesse (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
05 - A Mesma Rosa Amarela (Capiba / Carlos Penna Filho)
06 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
07 - Pra Que Mentir (Sergio Napp)
08 - Está Nascendo Um Samba (Tito Madi / Romeo Nunes)
09 - Fale de Samba Que Eu Vou (Tito Madi)
10 - Pensei Errei (Tito Madi)
11 - Só Eu Sei (Tito Madi)
12 - Nós e o Mar (Ronaldo Bôscoli / Roberto Menescal)

Edson Mendes on Tuesday, 29 May, 2007Hi,
This is the most "bossa nova" among all Tito`s recordings. It`s really amazing, he demonstrates to have a complete domain of the samba rhythm, whithout abandoning his romantic verve.
This record is also important because its instrumental track was used as a instrumental basis for another wonderful recording: Neco`s "Coquetel Bossa Nova", already posted here in Loronix.
Regards!

bossanovadreamer on Tuesday, 29 May, 2007
Hello,
Zeca thank you so much for all this kindly words-very nice -since Loronix was born I was very happy because as we see now after one year it is even more a better way to reach more people´when a blog with brazilin music comes directly from Brazil so such great things like Caetano got attention etc. All is in best hands now- beautiful
Edson, you are absolutley right- I have several Tito Madi albums- and this is probably his most bossa oriented album he ever made-one of my favourite bossa Top 20 albums. yes the thing with the Neco album is so as you said.I remeber that there was also a notice on the Sombras website about .I am happy you enjoy .
Best wishes
