Zecalouro is with this album under his wing for weeks using Google several times per day on a never-ending quest to find additional information.

The quest is over, unsuccessfully over. Lazy green bird.
He just wants to say that this LP from 1964 – Balançando, with Walter Wanderley and Neyde Fraga is very good. Maybe Walter is the only organist zecalouro knowns that can make a crowd dance using only an old organ.
Neyde Fraga is also surprising.

The green bird is absolutely right!
Mesmo com pouca informação sobre esse disco, as palavras de apresentação resumem exatamente o espírito desse disco. Dessa raridade! Disco magnífico com aquela energia dançante tristonha dos anos 60. Walter Wanderley, as you said, consegue fazer groove apenas com um órgão velho.Embora na capa do disco (que capa sensacional. + uma da philips) ele apareça sentado em um pianão de cauda. Mas as melodias do disco são executados em órgão e, em algumas partes, o piano participa mesmo. Impressionante! Mestre é mestre. A banda também é muito boa e não fica atrás. Tem até um vibrafone junto pontuando os acordes de Walter nas músicas. A voz de Neyde Fraga também é muito acessível e cai muito bem nessas composições. Tem sopro também. Enfim, um disco completo com uma sonoridade muito legal e inocente. Gostei muito de balanço do mar e doce amor. Acender as velas tem uma versão bacana e serve para comparar os estilos de Nara Leão – a principal intérprete dessa música de Zé Keti – e da Neyde Fraga. Bom exercício analítico. Pessoal, pode ir por mim. Eu garanto. Esse disco é muito gostoso e altamente recomendável. One more great choice – a rare gem – from loronix to us.

This is the first out of five records released by Philips between 1963 and 1964 with the "hits" from the artists of the Philips cast. What a cast! Hits da Bossa Nova is probably one of the best compilations I have ever seen. In spite of the nice repertoire selection, Hits da Bossa Nova features tracks never released on regular recordings, providing a guaranteed entertainment for starters and experienced collectors.

If you are new to Bossa Nova, you should take it.

This is Hits da Bossa Nova (1963), for Philips, featuring Tamba Trio, Sylvia Telles, Sonia Delfino, Carlos Lyra, Baden Powell, Lucio Alves and Sergio Mendes. 
You cannot go wrong with such selection.

Hi Zeca,
I checked all the tracks on this record. All but two came from well kown Philips LP`s by these artists (Lyra`s "Quem quiser encontrar o amor" comes from his "Depois do Carnaval" LP). "Desafinado" by Tamba Trio comes not from one of their early LP`s, this must be a track from a single. "O Barquinho" by Sonia Delfino is not on her Philips album "Canta para a Mocidade", perhaps also a single- track.
Hits da Bossa Nova Vol.2 has two tracks by Luiz Henrique which are not from his Philips LP but from an early EP-Single. Unfortunaly my copy of this Lp is very scratchy. I hope you will get it with better quality.

I'm recording Hits da Bossa Nova 2 at the moment - the vinyl looks to be in excellent condition, sadly when I've played it there are a few clicks and pops.
I'll send it your way as soon as possible Zeca but I fear the clicks might be a bit too much.

Hello, Good Evening! There is a great excitement around a vinyl fair in Sao Paulo scheduled for tomorrow. I will spread my wings and fly away there just to check with Caetano what is new. Actually, we will really check what is old, what is new does not apply to this business. It will be amazing to meet Loronixers, I will be with Caetano, so it will be easy to realize who is zeca, otherwise, look for a green guy, naked, 15cm tall and barefoot with four fingers, two in the front and two in the back. I’m sure that Maria Lucia Godoy has several admirers at Loronix, and I feel really glad about it, from a rather unknown to a very requested artist by many friends.

It is not easy to find her albums and I was even satisfied with the two previous we made at Loronix. This third one, with Maria Lucia Godoy performing Villa Lobos at his 90th anniversary is a real find, she is truly gorgeous in this session and is backed by Sergio Abreu, a Brazilian guitarist, brother of Eduardo Abreu from the legendary and acclaimed Duo Abreu.
Let’s see.

This is Maria Lucia Godoy – Maria Lucia Godoy Interpreta Villa Lobos (1977), for Philips, featuring an orchestra of cellos on tracks 01 to 05 conducted by Alceo Bocchino and the guitar and arrangements of Sergio Abreu on tracks 06 to 11. I’m making available a music video with Duo Abreu performing a Domenico Scarlatti Sonata, K.141 in 1974. Duo Abreu was internationally acclaimed, but had a short career. Sergio Abreu is now an international highly praised luthier since he left his career as musician in the beginning of the 80′s.
Stay with Maria Lucia Godoy and do not miss Duo Abreu music video, perhaps their only known video performance.

Do you like vocal groups? I do. It is nice to hear and understand arrangements made for voices and this group excels on this kind of thing.

O Quarteto recorded only three albums, two are available here at Loronix, while the third, released in 1969, is totally unknown to my ears.

This is a reposting with several improvements, including the FLAC files and high quality front and back cover scans. I will keep my original writing with a few and cosmetic adaptations.

Hello, good evening! I feel great today. I think it was a snack that made me feel bad yesterday, nothing better than 12 hours of continuous sleeping to get yourself fixed. Since I feel good, let’s have a great start today with a record that I like a lot, taking advantage of the last records picturing Bossa Nova 10, 29, 30 years after.
Let’s see what we have here.

This is O Quarteto – Antologia da Bossa Nova 20 Anos Depois (1977), for Philips. You probably remember the first O Quarteto LP released at Loronix, but if you don’t, O Quarteto is a vocal group that released only two self-titled albums in the late 60′s, in spite of the active participation they had on several Festivais da Cancao. Antologia da Bossa Nova 20 Anos Depois was released with an interval of 9 years between the second LP. I do not have available info of the reasons they do not made albums, since they are a great vocal group that is always backed up by renowned musicians, as you can check bellow at personnel listing.

o interessante nesse disco é que foi gravado todo o vocal antes (pelo menos uns 4 quartetos, com vocais de apoio, contracantos e solos) com um clique ou um guia de ritmo qualquer e só depois o césar colocou os pianos e teclados, junto com a batera. Trabalho inverso, mas muito bem feito!

Dear Zeca, I’m very disappointed. 

I was so happy… I was sure to have at least one album you don’t have, an old brazilian LP from a group named “O Quarteto”, a Bossa Nova anthology. I was already searching it in my collection, ready to send it to you as a humble gift, a small thank compared to what you offer to us.
But before, I have googled the web, in order to see what is indicated about this group and this album (and a possible re-edition in CD):
- I typed “Quarteto” & “20 anos depois”
- pressed button “Search”
- … and here I am, return at Loronix!
Is there any brazilian disk that can escape you? I despair to be ever able to pay my debt with brazilian music as money…
I have a few other ideas, but now, big thanks for this original and interesting disk: my record-player is old, head must be changed and I can’t find easily what’s needed: I have hundreds of old LPs and am unable to listen to them. I can now hear again this LP with pleasure (and with the best quality).

Yesterday, I was chatting with Cleber and Renato at Loronix Live Chat, which is the chatting application inside Loronix Forum and Cleber suggested an LP from the vocal group O Quarteto. Cleber said also that the four O Quarteto members are all engineers, something that I could not check.

The first time I saw a LP from O Quarteto was at NAmerica Loves SAmerica from Now, that has the last and late O Quarteto LP recorded in 1977.

I’m introducing this vocal group with another release; this is O Quarteto – O Quarteto (1968), for Phillips, which is O Quarteto debut LP. I was not successful searching bios information from this band, but many people appreciates this group that apparently had a short life, recording two LPs in the late 60′s and the last release available at Now’s blog. They have also important participations at Brazilian music festivals from the 60′s. Let’s see how O Quarteto performs here at Loronix.

Today we will have great surprises and this is the first one. It is not necessary to say that Caetano Rodrigues is the friend behind it. I'm thrilled to share this album with Loronixers. For the first time, Caetano sends us an International Bossa Nova pill and I cannot find bio or more relevant information, even browsing the giant All About Jazz and All Music Guide. I hope someone can make better than myself. The other surprise is the album itself, nice Bossa Nova standards renditions with some tunes that were certainly being used as incidental music, they sound very familiar. Let's see.

This is Art Heatlie and His Orchestra - Bossa Nova - But Beautiful (1966), for Philips. As I said, litte is known about Art Heatlie. So far, I could search he was born in South Africa, being a respectful orchestra arranger and conducer, also leading Jazz big bands. Caetano probably has additional information about Art Heatlie, meanwhile stay with Bossa Nova, certainly really beautiful.

Zeca, com um Caetano carregadinho de surpresas você terá de fazer um outro blog só para as gravações internacionais de Bossanova. Acredito que ainda tem muita coisa gravada pelos nossos músicos por aqui e que ainda não foi postada. Raridades, peças de colecionador, documentos ou mesmo amenidades. Caetano, me desculpe. Mas esse não tem capa no Livro.
Se formos pensar em colocar tudo que se fez lá fora - bom ou ruim - com o rótulo de Bossa Nova aqui, vai ser um Deus nos acuda. Todos tem sempre alguma coisa que nos emociona. Mas ainda prefiro ver chegando aquelas "novidades" que perdemos o contato.

Among the last contributions by the great Caetano Rodrigues, this one is making a great success here. I decided to give a break to zecalouro - the parrot - studies on classics to give him a chance to hear something popular and dancing, since he has been alone some hours during the days this year. zeca is addicted to this LP.



This is Maestro Portinho e Sua Orquestra - Fogo nos Metais (1963), for Philips. zeca seems to understand that we have here Maestro Portinho doing his best, which is the perfect mix of Samba rhythms with orchestral arrangements. Bravo!
After a late night out, my girlfriend & I were pretty tired. I played this for her & she actually started dancing all over my apartment. This was a small miracle as she is a hip hop head who does not particularly care for my musical tastes. Thanks for helping me to begin her conversion. Perhaps there is hope for her after all...(^x^)
