Toots Thielemans – The Brasil Project (1992)

.
.

Originalmente postado no Loronix em 03 de Julho 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.

Toots Thielemans recorded two tribute albums for Brazilian Music, which are called Brasil Project 1 and 2. Caetano already sent to us the second edition, Brasil Project 2, a very nice album, acclaimed by many Loronixers.

I could not wait longer for making Brasil Project 1 as soon arrived. The last track 12 – Bluesette is the main attraction, requested by Beto Kessel, kindly associated by zecalouro as Loronix Ambassador. Beto Kessel is a nice friend, knows everything about Brazilian music and Jazz and I want to dedicate this post to our Ambassador.

This is Toots Thielemans – The Brasil Project (1992), for Private Music, really a project, a great effort matching the harmonica player Toots Thielemans with his Brazilian performer friends, Ivan Lins, Luiz Bonfa, Oscar Castro Neves, Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento, among others. It is nice to see photos of a late Luiz Bonfa, available with the music. Bluesette is really the main attraction, a celebration performed by Toots Brazilian friends altogether.

Toots Thielemans – The Brasil Project Vol. 2 (1993)

This is another solid listen provided by one of the most fantastic friends I have the change to meet with Loronix. Let me stand up first before saying this name, Caetano Rodrigues.

Just follow this link and be amazed with loads and loads of rare and impossible to find music provided by Caetano.

It is important and an act of respect that all music provided by Caetano Rodrigues be available to the community, and that’s the reason why this album is being reposted in the first page.

I’m also missing Caetano’s valuable advice; I learned a lot with Caetano. Anyway, this is also an album that everybody cries for a rebirth. That’s what I had to say. I will keep my 2007 words below with some modifications.

Here we go on Caetano’s international release of the day, actually it is quite a mistake of mine to tag a Toots Thielemans album recorded with Brazilian artists as international.

Toots Thielemans has a great identification with the music from Brazil, being here several times of his life, recorded a wonderful album with Elis Regina, performed with several other renowned Brazilian artists, such as Rosinha de Valenca, Sivuca, among others.

This is Toots Thielemans – The Brazil Project Vol. 2 (1993), for Private Music, featuring Toots Thielemans harmonica and Luiz Bonfa, Eliane Elias, Dorival Caymmi, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, among others. Personnel listing explain why this record is considered a “project”. I did not have muscles to type, how big it is. Another self-explanatory release. Thanks Caetano Rodrigues for showing this album to Loronixers.

Toots shows up on the Loronix blog…thanks so much, not just for this but all your hard work.
I enjoy your blog on weekends when I have some time, and am never disappointed by the wealth of info you offer on the things you share. Superb!

This album is one of my all time favorites. I saw Toots together with Richard Gallianos New York Trio on the 2004 Berlin Jazzfest. He is one of the most inspiring musicians ever.

A big thank you for your fantastic work from Germany.

Hey there, thanks for all of the great music. It is amazing what you have done for my appreciation of Brazilian music. Just to let you know, it appears that the second download is the exact same as the first. That is, part B of this album is not included and the download is actually just part A. Whether you have time to fix it or not, I have so much gratitude for all you have done. Thanks.

Anonymous on Saturday, 12 July, 2008
Yep, Fixing part 2 would be nice!
Thanks!

parte2 = parte1 Falta a verdadeira parte2 (tracks 07-11)
Ai Zeca, ya me enredé… mas você entendiou ¿sim, verdade? Eu não sei como explicarte meior
Abraços, Nina

Correção!!!

Onde diz “tracks 07-11″ TEM QUE DIZER “tracks 07-13″
Ai Zeca, quando será que eu escreva, tudo o que tenho que escrever, bem e ao primeiro intento

Luiz Eça & Maria Petersen – Encontro Marcado (1992)

.
.
Originalmente postado no Loronix em 22 de agosto 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.

This repost is been worked since 28th May 2007.
Shame it on zecalouro, he took three months to realize that Caetano Rodrigues could send it to us, as he did.
The repost idea started with a request from a Loronix friend who lives in Paris, France. I don’t know if I can mention his name, but he did a nice work to track down this album, even making email contact with Maria Hiort Petersen. Unfortunately, we did not exchange emails since then and I think he will be surprised with this reposting.

Encontro Marcado features Luiz Eça and Maria Petersen, in my humble opinion, one of the best Luiz Eca albums. The first version had a low bit-rate and eleven tracks, running time of 46 minutes. Caetano sent the CD version with extras, three additional tracks with running time of 67 minutes. It is a mandatory repost, now with highest bit rate and alternative FLAC files. I recommend.

This is Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen – Encontro Marcado (1992), for Line Records, recorded live at Au Bar, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, Rio de Janeiro with musical direction of Durval Ferreira and arrangements by Luiz Eca.

Maria Petersen is a Danish singer and this is her first album. Luiz Eca piano can be heard in all tracks and Maria Petersen beautiful singing accompanies Luiz Eca piano in 9 tracks. Our very good friend from Paris said Maria Petersen recorded more albums before Encontro Marcado, most of them dedicated to Brazilian music. I think it is really worth to track them down.

Tracks include:

01 – Minha – Luiz Eca
02 – Chuva – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
03 – Brigas Nunca Mais – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
04 – Corcovado – Luiz Eca
05 – Imagem – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
06 – Summer of 42 – Luiz Eca
07 – Manha – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
08 – Insensatez – Luiz Eca
09 – Dolphin – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
10 – Meditacao – Luiz Eca
11 – Marina – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
12 – Stormy Weather – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
13 – Manha de Carnaval – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen
14 – The Man I Love – Luiz Eca & Maria Petersen

Zeca:
This is a very rare recording with a limited amount of Lps pressed. I was at the recording session. It was done 2 or 3 years before Luiz passed. Maria had been living in Rio (where this was done) but shortly after it came out returned to Denmark where she’s still singing and recording. I love the “naturalness” of this recording. Good job, Zeca!

Hi My Good Friend Zecca,
The french music detective, who’s not the inspector Dreyfus but the Pink Panther Himself is very glad to see that you brought us, with the talent and the elegance which caracterize you, excellent FLAC dope of this sultry vocal recording!
Even Maria will be surprised to see that because she can’t even find the original album!
A thousand thanks indeed, and only one of our old french words: félicitations!
