Here we go on the second contribution by SOJAZZ (http://www.sojazz.org.br/), a group of friends that get together as a club to exchange information and promote Jazz and Brazilian music. The friends of SOJAZZ work together even for making contributions to Loronix. I have some kind technical info about this album that I’m making available bellow. Additionally, it’s necessary to say that SOJAZZ understand the business and their contributions are made under technical and quality criterion. Let’s see.
This is Marcio Montarroyos e Orquestra – Piston Internacional (1981), for Som Livre. According with SOJAZZ, this is a very rare album and is one of they like most from Marcio Montarroyos discography. I made my searches to learn more about Piston Internacional and I could not go beyond SOJAZZ info. I’m also surprised that Marcio Montarroyos official website does not list this album on his discography. In spite of the title, Piston Internacional features a repertoire with Brazilian and International standards and SOJAZZ credits for this contribution goes to Gabriel (external affairs), Benutti (vinyl transfer) and Seogcg (archiving).
Tracks include:
01 – Stormy Wheather (Harold Arlen / Ted Koehler)
02 – Maria (Luís Peixoto / Ary Barroso)
03 – Stardust (Hoagy Carmichael / Mitchell Parish)
04 – Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
05 – As Times Goes By (Herman Hupfield)
06 – No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
07 – Da Cor do Pecado (Bororó)
08 – How About You (Lane Burton / Freed Ralph)
09 – Chão de Estrelas (Sïlvio Caldas / Orestes Barbosa)
10 – Misty (Erroll Garner / Johnny Burke)
11 – Mulher (Custódio Mesquita / Sadi Cabral)
12 – I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Cole Porter)
Martoni:
No programa do RF&E de 15 de dezembro 2007 lembramos o falecimento de Marcio Montarroyos no dia 13 de dezembro 2007.
