First, if you are wondering if this Zeca is zecalouro, sorry, you are wrong. This is the first appearance at Loronix of Zeca do Trombone, the Brazilian legendary trombonist with the 1980 LP Rota do Mar.



Second, if you are wondering why every Brazilian trombonist is legendary, zecalouro does not know, since they are all great indeed. Zeca is the king of the valve trombone and has a unique style of playing with only one hand.


Zeca is still active, performing at ballrooms with his amazing playing and rough singing.

The first question you will make after hearing 30 second of the first track of this LP will be: Why they record only this album and disappear? I will do the same just in case if a friend has a answer to it. Why these girls did not follow on recordings? What happened? Another strike of Caetano Rodrigues, a vocal trio and their first and only LP that could easily be positioned such like Quarteto em Cy is today as a female vocal group.



I invite you to try the surprising Trio Samba - Samba! Samba! Samba! (1964), for Philips. I could track this time two members of Trio Samba, Wilma Camargo, a well-known Maestro, arranger and composer, with a solid contribution to Brazilian music and also a successful actress and Triana Romero that could also make her living with music that is retired today making some eventual presentations. The remaining member, Marina Fernanda Gradilone (Polly), could not be searched.

In spite of the wonderful vocal trio, Samba! Samba! Samba! has Carlos Piper e Sua Orquestra with beautiful arrangements.

As irmãs Póli e (?) Gradilone eram cantoras de estúdio atívíssimas. São as vozes femininas em The Playing's, 'ghost group' vocal que gravou na RGE — as masculinas eram feitas pelos Titulares do Ritmo — com acompanhamento da orquestra de Élcio Alvarez, nos anos 50 e começo dos 60. Mr 5 Music (ver em A Must Seen Blogs)acabou de publicar uma coletânea dos Playing's ótima, exceto pelo título cretino, 'Rockabilly'.

Meus amigos, por causa desse site eu comprei um computador novo e uma conexào banda larga, demorei mais de uma semana para entender como usar e esse disco maravilhoso foi o primeiro que ouvi de voces. Eu nao sei quem sao voces, se sao brancos, pretos, ricos ou pobres, mas que voces tem o melhor site do mundo isso eu tenho certeza. Nao para nunca de fazer esse bem danado para um velho como eu que já estava aceitando que nao tinha nada pra fazer com o pouco que me resta, agora eu me sinto uma crianca novamente e todo o tempo e pouco.

This post and the first of the day, by the sax player Domingos Pecci have a strong connection that I could realize together with Caetano Rodrigues and confirm later with some Internet research. Before we speak about this connection, I want to say that we have a very good LP by this obscure Bossa Jazz quartet that only a friend such like Caetano can provide to us. Thanks once again, Caetano, you will read zecalouro saying thanks several times during the next weeks.



Before listening to this album, I found interesting this beautiful name, Lambari, a Brazilian fish, a river in Minas Gerais and also the City of Lambari that is close to this river. Now I know that Lambari is the nickname Eduardo Pecci, top-notch sax player and son of Domingos Pecci, the kind of thing that you only realize when we pick together such as today.

Anyway, let's talk about the great music of Quarteto Lambari - Quarteto Lambari (1966), for Farroupilha, as I said, very nice instrumental set, led by Eduardo Pecci "Lambari" (sax alto) with Hilton J. Valente "Gogo" (piano), Roberto B. H. de Azevedo "capacete" (bass) and Hamilton Pitorri (drums). Eduardo Pecci is still making his life as a musician. I will search about the others later, all great musicians.

Wow... the nice Loronix surprises just keep coming and coming. I must admit that I have never heard of this quartet, nor any of the musicians involved, but I'm learning that it pays to look closely when I find things like this at Loronix. Eduardo Pecci has a very fine sound, and his phrasing is very natural... very musical. When they are played this well, I just can not get tired of hearing all of these familiar themes from the Bossa Nova era. It's very refreshing to hear them in the hands of different artists.

Hello, Good Night! It is a pleasure to share with Loronixers this LP with instrumental music played on a very old style. Before deciding by this post, I took care to ask bossanovadreamer, which is zecalouro's consultant on sax playing business, to evaluate it and he got very pleased to hear this old artist and his nice playing style of Choros and Valsas, thanks bossanovadreamer.



This is Domingos Pecci e Conjunto - Magoas de um Chorao (1959), for Chantecler. Domingos Pecci was a renowned choro player in Sao Paulo, releasing also several music books and methods on sax and clarinet playing. His books are still in use today in Brazil, but so far, none of his three last LPs released by Chantecler were reissued on CD.

Domingos Pecci will have a special day at Loronix today, a big Caetano Rodrigues surprise should appear shortly with an amazing Bossa Jazz LP led by another Pecci for an earlier generation, stay tuned.

I think that just a quick look at the cover and post title is enough to realize that this is another obscure, rare and amazing Caetano Rodrigues release. Very nice release. The first time I heard the name "Os Infernais da Bossa" was on that vinyl fair in Sao Paulo, Caetano told be. You are always learning something with Caetano. He said also that all LPs from this record label Exitos are very hard to find. I was invited and accepted the mission to participate on a hunt of more Exitos records. If you see other LP released by Exitos let us know.
This is the first and already legendary release from Exitos at Loronix, meet Os Infernais da Bossa - E Balanco (N/A), for Exitos, a very nice instrumental session full of brass arrangements by Maestro Nelsinho with a fine repertoire of Bossa Nova classics that provide a guaranteed entertainment at a first hearing.


Before introducing the musicians, I want to say that I'm here with the cover and back cover with no personnel information and a handwritten message from Caetano with personnel listing. The question is, how Caetano knows such things? I have been searching and talking with several friends about this personnel list and suddenly, Caetano has it ready and complete. Anyway, appreciate personnel listing, so good that I think it is the first time we have together Juarez Araujo, Astor Silva and Ed Maciel. Tracks include:

This was a task force to accomplish, the acclaimed Hermeto Pascoal presentation at the Watanabe Sadao Night, Den-en Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan (1979).



Live Under the Sky (1979) was a series of concerts held from 25 to 29 July, 1979. The first date was "The Brazilian Night", featuring Elis Regina and Hermeto Pascoal with the guest appearance of Sadao Watanabe. The last date was "The Sadao Watanabe Night", featuring Sadao Watanabe backed by Hermeto Pascoal.


Personnel:

Sadao Watanabe (sax),
Jovino Santos Neto (keyboards),
Itiberê Zwarg (bass), Nenê (drums),
Pernambuco and Zabele (percussion).


The audience was startled at the idiosyncratic look and ultra-sensational music by a Brazilian genius named Hermeto Pascoal. He looked as an eye-opener to our man Sadao Watanabe, too; they played together for the first time and Sadao got a big surprise from Pascoal's remarkable talent. At the same time, Sadao's playing and personality naturally impressed Pascoal, and the two eventually ended up having a hot, respectful conversation. The following text is the conversation that took place on July 29th, right after their stage entitled "the Watanabe Sadao Night". (Reported by Takemura Jun for Swing Journal).

This is Adylson Godoy - Adylson Godoy (1970), for Premiere/RGE, a compilation of earlier Adylson Godoy works, which includes Sou Sem Paz (1965) for RGE and the first Adylson Godoy single, RGE - CS-70.209, the songs Da-me and Fim de Tristeza. Adylson Godoy released only one LP, Sou Sem Paz, for RGE in 1965 and it is a collectors sought after LP, I hope that this one be a very pleasant pick.

I can't remember, but I think this is one of the most wanted LPs at Loronix ever, a really sought-after collectors item. I need to say thank you for two special dudes this time. First, Caetano Rodrigues, for hearing the prayers and heling Loronix to make it. Second, the bossanovadreamer, he has been dreaming with this item since Loronix started, now the dream comes true. Thanks bossanovadreamer for don't let zecalouro loose his hope during several months.


Anyway, the sharing spirit is bigger than the need to make a reasonable research about this post, so I will let with you, friends to add more information on it. This is Geraldo Cunha - Quem Tem Bossa Faz Assim (1966), for Audio Fidelity. Quem Tem Bossa Faz Assim also features Sambalanço Trio. Hello, Good Night! This is a perfect example of how the name "Bossa Nova" was misused by record labels along time. I bought this record today for a bargain and I was very happy to have it. Conjunto Balambossa released another LP by the label Coledisc called Poema do Adeus that is a classic instrumental music album. However, this is not Bossa Nova or a Bossa Jazz LP, but a slight opportunistic use of the term Balambossa on a record full of instrumental boleros with Hammond organ.


Anyway, according with sombras.com.br, the organist is Ed Lincoln and I decided to share just to please Ed Lincoln fans. This is Conjunto Balambossa - Nao Quero Ver Voce Triste (1974), for Coledisc, featuring the organist Ed Lincoln. There are nice moments provided by Ed Lincoln and some shady arrangements that were probably inspired by progressive rock music from the 70’s.

This nice Bossa Jazz LP featuring some of the best musicians from the 60's was on my radar for months, now it seems that is the time to release it to Loronixers, since it has gone out of print recently. This is Miguel Angel - Samba na Onda (1965), for Equipe, featuring several members of Os Ipanemas and lead by the Uruguayan Miguel Angel, also known as Miguel Cidra.

Muito bom o Blog, faz tempo q o frequento, mas me diga uma coisa. Se tratando de música brasileira, pq escrever em inglês? É só pra inglês ver? Como podes ver Zecalouro a maioria dos usuários são brasileiros. Acho legal a iniciativa de divulgar a nossa música, mas por favor escreve tb em português.
Não me entenda mal. Seu blog é exelente, é apenas uma sugestão. Tenho certeza q muitos dos frequentadores pensam desta forma.

Vamos lá. Essa questão do idioma eu costumo chamar de ponto sem retorno, algo que não podemos voltar atrás, concordo e é um fato que nós brasileiros somos a maioria, mas o Loronix nunca teria chegado onde está se fosse escrito somente em português. Infelizmente, não tenho recursos para redigir os posts em dois idiomas, quem sabe um dia alguém possa patrocinar essa tradução. Seria bastante interessante.
Obrigado pelas considerações e fique certo que não te entendi mal, acho fundamental esse tipo de retorno.
