Hello, Good Evening! Let’s start with a very successful formula, which is Bossa Nova recorded outside of Brazil by an international artist. Actually, I cannot understand why I did not release this one earlier, it is among my favorites in the style. Let’s see what happens?
This is Ramsey Lewis Trio – Bossa Nova (1962), for Argo, also featuring the Brazilian singer Carmen Costa and Josef(?) Paulo, which is probably the Brazilian singer Jose Paulo that were with Carmen Costa and the constellation of Bossa Nova legends at Carnegie Hall first Bossa Nova US concert in 1963.
Ramsey Lewis Trio is Ramsey Lewis (piano),
Eldee Young (bass) and Redd Holt (drums), delivering a nice job, really above the averege of the very beginning US Bossa Nova albums.
Tracks include:
01 – Samba de Orfeu
02 – Manhã de Carnaval
03 – As Criancinhas
04 – A Noite do Meu Bem
05 – O Pato
06 – A Felicidade
07 – Whirpoll
08 – Cara de Palhaço
09 – Canção para Geralda

Ahh, you tricky little green bird, Zeca! Do you believe in kismet?
I have been listening to the Ramsey Lewis Trio’s “Down to Earth” (1958, Verve / Mercury MG 36150) for the past week. . .and then I step into your parlour and see this lovely set -

Equally, never seen or heard of this (that’s not saying much though). This album is very nice. For my taste, possibly his best (?).
Many thanks.
