No words, just feelings, Rio de Janeiro delivered a strong participation on Brazilian cities share of visitors at Loronix last year. It is the city that I live and as more as I try, I'm always talking, talking and talking about Rio de Janeiro. Actually, it is the city where Bossa Nova was born and the place that everybody interested on culture should go in the golden age of the music from Brazil.

Rio is a hotbed of musical creation, the homeland of styles such as choro, lundu, jongo, maxixe, samba (in all its many varieties, from the music of the samba schools to bossa nova and beyond), and many others. Rio is the birthplace of Chiquinha Gonzaga, Ernesto Nazareth, Jacob do Bandolim, Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Oscar Castro Neves, Baden Powell, Luiz Bonfá, Luiz Eça, Villa-Lobos (the greatest Brazilian classical composer) and too many to list here.



Therefore, it is impossible to summarize this entire musical explosion in two paragraphs. It can be wild, like in samba schools, or cool and sophisticated in bossa nova; or mellow and elegant, like choro; or aggressive like our local form of funk music. You could spend a lifetime listening and not hear it all. And Loronix is proud to present a nice chunk of it.
