Hello, good evening! We are opening this Friday night with a truly amazing album. You should believe me. Before any other thing, two warnings are necessary, as follows: 1) In spite of the word “Dancas” at the album title, this is NOT a regular “Para Dancar” album, actually, by definition, this is not “Para Dancar” music. 2) Do not take it as an album recorded by Maestro Severino Araujo from Orquestra Tabajara, it is a very common mistake.
In the other hand, if you are not aware, Maestro Severino Filho is the leader of the Brazilian vocal group Os Cariocas, one of the greatest Brazilian musicians ever, still active with Os Cariocas since the foundation in 1942. I never heard about this album before and it is a great surprise since we have the participation of Os Cariocas. Let’s see.
This is Severino Filho e Sua Orquestra de Dancas – Rio de Janeiro, Gosto de Voce (1958), for Polydor, featuring an orchestra conduced and arranged by Maestro Severino Filho with the participation of Os Cariocas in a couple of tracks. This album was released 49 years ago and the recording quality is really amazing. Severino Filho e Sua Orquestra de Dancas features a not credited vibraphone player that delivers a wonderful job on top of overwhelming orchestra arrangements by Maestro Severino Filho. I urge Loronixers to send feedback on this delicious to hear LP.
Tracks include:
01 – Despedida de Mangueira (Benedito Lacerda / Aldo Cabral)
02 – Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa)
03 – Rio de Janeiro (Ary Barroso)
04 – Valsa de Uma Cidade (Ismael Netto / Antônio Maria)
05 – Copacabana (Alberto Ribeiro / João de Barro)
06 – Cidade Maravilhosa (André Filho)
07 – Madureira Chorou (Carvalhinho / Julio Monteiro)
08 – O Bonde de São Januário (Ataulfo Alves / Wilson Batista)
09 – A Lapa (Herivelto Martins / Benedito Lacerda)
10 – Eu Vou Pra Vila (Noel Rosa)
11 – Fantasia Carioca (Alcyr Pires Vermelho / Osvaldo Santiago)
12 – Vai Com Jeito (João de Barro)

Erlon Chaves e Sua Orquestra – Em Tempo de Samba (1961)

Caetano Rodrigues will be surprised with this post, he gave me the vinyl original issue of this LP together with the last set of contributions to Loronixers, but I think Caetano would not realize that I would like that a lot to make it available to Loronixers. Thanks again Caetano, this record is unique and I did my best to make this cover scan and convert the vinyl to digital files. I hope I could make it accordingly.
This is Erlon Chaves e Sua Orquestra – Em Tempo de Samba (1961), for RCA Victor, according with my researches, the debut LP of the great Maestro Erlon Chaves, one of Loronix favorites. This record is among one of the few releases that blends an Orchestra performance with the Samba rhythms efficiently, creating something that our Orchestra specialist Zarville calls as “Samba Orchestra”. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my feeling about this LP. Nice arrangements by an early Erlon Chaves, great since his early years.
Tracks include:
01 – É Fácil Dizer Adeus (Tito Madi)
02 – O Menino Desce o Morro (De Rosa / Vera Brasil)
03 – Água de Beber (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – O Nosso Olhar (Sergio Ricardo)
05 – Tema Oriental (Erlon Chaves)
06 – Murmúrio (Djalma Ferreira / Luis Antônio)
07 – Dindi (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
08 – Só Vou de Mulher (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
09 – Descendo o Morro (Billy Blanco / Tom Jobim)
10 – Duas Contas (Garoto)
11 – Barquinho (Ronaldo Bôscoli / Roberto Menescal)
12 – A Fuga do Samba (Erlon Chaves)

Geraldo Vandré – Hora de Lutar (1965)

Originalmente postado no Loronix em 31 de outubro 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.
Geraldo Vandre is really a gifted artist, it seems impossible for him to make a regular album, always delivering challenging listens, being also very popular among Loronixers. In spite being a lyrics oriented artist, his popularity is quite the same among friends in Brazil and also overseas. Hora de Lutar has the participation of Baden Powell, playing violao in two songs. Let’s see.
This is Geraldo Vandre – Hora de Lutar (1965), for Continental, which is the second LP recorded by Geraldo Vandre, presented with the vinyl transfer of 1969 Disco Lar reissue. I don’t know if Disco Lar took the original Continental cover artwork for this reissue, however, it is a very beautiful cover. Geraldo Vandre wrote most of the tunes with 06 – Asa Branca (Luiz Gonzaga / Humberto Teixeira) and 12 – Sonho de um Carnaval (Chico Buarque) as the exceptions.
Personnel listing was taken from the essential Brazil On Guitar.
Tracks include:
Personnel
Geraldo Vandre
(vocal, main performer)
Carlos Castilho, Chico Buarque, Carlos Lyra
(vocals)
Baden Powell
(guitar)
Erlon Chaves
(arrangements)
Moacir Santos, Luiz Gonzaga, Mauricio Marconi, Humberto Teixeira

Track List
01 – Hora de Lutar (Geraldo Vandré)
02 – A Maré Encheu (Geraldo Vandré) with Baden Powell
03 – Despedida de Maria (Geraldo Vandré / Carlos Castilho)
04 – Dia de Festa (Moacir Santos / Geraldo Vandré)
05 – Ladainha (Geraldo Vandré)
06 – Asa Branca (Luis Gonzaga / Humberto Teixeira)
07 – Samba de Mudar (Baden Powell / Geraldo Vandré)
08 – Canta Maria (Geraldo Vandré / Erlon Chaves)
09 – Aruanda (Carlos Lyra / Geraldo Vandré)
10 – Vou Caminhando (Geraldo Vandré) with Baden Powell

This is a hard to find LP released by Musidisc in 1966 featuring Ed Lincoln, Orlann Divo and Nilo Sergio. Nilo Sergio – even appearing at the third name – is Musidisc owner.
In spite of it, Nilo Sergio had to work hard with four compositions. Orlandivo and Ed Lincoln also give four compositions each.
Tracks include:
01 – Quero Amar (Ed Lincoln)
02 – Zezinho (Orlann Divo)
03 – Romantic Partners (Nilo Sergio)
04 – Pra Que? (Ed Lincoln)
05 – Brincando de Samba (Orlann Divo)
06 – Espiral (Nilo Sergio)
07 – Tristeza (Ed Lincoln)
08 – Saudade, Solidao pra Mim (Orlann Divo)
09 – Cancao dos Vagabundos (Nilo Sergio)

Forma & Elenco is a radio show broadcasted every Saturday on Brazilian radio and Internet streaming. I know there are many radios and many shows in Brazil. However, Forma & Elenco is really special, it is all about Bossa Nova and it is produced and presented by Leo Ribeiro Jr., a great Loronixer. Loronix and Forma & Elenco are connected; Leo uses to make the show agenda based on the music available at Loronix. Additionally, Leo does not miss the chance to make beautiful statements about Loronix, mentioning zecalouro and several other Loronix friends.
I urge Loronixers to join Leo on his show, every Saturday at 7pm with a new broadcast in the following day, Sunday at 11am, Brazilian time. Forma & Elenco Radio streams the show at http://www.fm107rc.com.br/
The tireless Leo Ribeiro Jr. has also established a website with my great friend Martoni from The Netherlands, which is the owner and maintainer of Radio Forma & Elenco blog,http://www.martoni-formaeelenco.blogspot.com, with everything about the show, including audio from past programs in case you miss one. Congratulations Leo and Martoni for this great new resource.
Leo delivers Loronix agenda today, providing this beautiful and pretty unknown Dom Salvador album. Dom Salvador and Leo Ribeiro Jr. are friends and share something in common; they were born in the city of Rio Claro, in the middle of Sao Paulo state, as indicated at the yellow arrow at the map in your left.
Dom Salvador was nominated Cidadao Hemerito of Rio Claro city in June 2007, being there to receive his nomination and also give a concert. Guess who was there with Dom Salvador? Leo Ribeiro Jr. that recorded this interview with this legendary musician sending the whole audio as a gift to our community. Thanks Leo. You can hear the whole show with Dom Salvador participation downloading the audio at this link, Forma & Elenco Especial – Dom Salvador.
This is Dom Salvador Quartet – Rio Claro Suite (1984), with all music except for Farofa Amarela composed and arranged by Dom Salvador. I think Loronixers will be surprise by the chance to hear this really unknown Dom Salvador album, recorded in the US with the accompaniment of great musicians.

Dilermando Reis – Subindo ao Ceu (1966)

Originalmente postado no Loronix em 31 de outubro 2007.

Hello, good evening! This cover artwork is very beautiful, but every time I take a look, it makes me remember Nelson Cavaquinho, I will tell why. Nelson had a great fear of death, which is something clear at his compositions with several lyrics having death as a theme. Nelson Cavaquinho would never release an album like this, the clouds and the title, Subindo ao Ceu, free translated as Going up to the Sky, in English. Let’s take this image and this title with another meaning, going up to the sky with the beautiful violao playing and compositions by Dilermando Reis, which is problably what Continental had in mind when creating this title and cover art. Let’s see.
This is Dilermando Reis – Subindo ao Ceu (1966), for Continental, featuring only Dilermando Reis violao performing his own compositions. This is the second Dilermando Reis album made available to Loronxiers, much better than the first one with songs from several countries. Dilermando Reis delivers better results performing his own compositions. The exception is the first track, which is the one that gives the album title, composed by Aristides Borges, a beautiful valsa.
Tracks include:
01 – Subindo ao Céu (Aristides Borges)
02 – Conversa de Baiana (Dilermando Reis)
03 – Romântica (Dilermando Reis)
04 – Baile na Fronteira (Dilermando Reis)
05 – Valsa das Hortências (Dilermando Reis)
06 – Desengano (Dilermando Reis)
07 – Enquanto Meu Amor Não Vem (Dilermando Reis)
08 – Moderninho (Dilermando Reis)
09 – Ana Cristina (Dilermando Reis)
10 – Prelúdio Em Forma de Oração (Dilermando Reis)

Stan Getz João Gilberto – Getz/Gilberto #2 (1964)

Shame on zecalouro, Caetano sent this album a couple of months ago to our community and for reasons that I will never realize, I took it as commercial available and decided to keep it with me until availability changes. I was wrong, do not ask me, perhaps I took by default that all records from Joao Gilberto and Stan Getz collaboration would be always available. By the way, it is truly amazing that this fantastic album is no longer available in CD.
Anyway, thanks for this one Caetano and thanks once again for sending the CD version, featuring really important extras.
This is Stan Getz – Joao Gilberto – Getz/Gilberto #2 (1964), for Verve, featuring the sequel of the acclaimed Getz/Gilberto released an year before. This is a concert recorded live at Carnegie Hall in October of 1964 with Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto performing on separated sets. The extras include a couple of additional vocal cuts featuring Astrud Gilberto. Caetano said to have special attention on these extras with some conversation between the couple that really worth checking.
Tracks include:
Personnel
Helcio Milito (JG), Joe Hunt (SG)
(drums)
Keter Betts (JG), Gene Cherico (SG)
(bass)
Gary Burtun
(vibraphone)
Joao Gilberto
(voice, violao)
Stan Getz
(sax tenor)
Astrud Gilberto
(voice)
Track List
01 – Grandfather’s Waltz
02 – Tonight I Shall Sleep With a Smile On My Face
03 – Stan’s Blues
04 – Here’s That Rainy Day
05 – Samba da Minha Terra
06 – Rosa Morena
07 – Um Abraço no Bonfá
08 – Bim-bom
09 – Meditação
10 – O Pato
11 – It Might as Well be Spring
12 – Only Trust your Heart
13 – Corcovado
14 – Garota de Ipanema
15 – Eu e Voce
Attention: Last minute video featuring Joao Gilberto definitive rendition of Estate, performed at Termas de Caracalla, Rome, Italy, 1983. You cannot miss.

By the way, it is truly amazing that this fantastic album is no longer available in CD.
Anyway, thanks for this one Caetano and thanks once again for sending the CD version, featuring really important extras.
This is Stan Getz – Joao Gilberto – Getz/Gilberto #2 (1964), for Verve, featuring the sequel of the acclaimed Getz/Gilberto released an year before. This is a concert recorded live at Carnegie Hall in October of 1964 with Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto performing on separated sets. The extras include a couple of additional vocal cuts featuring Astrud Gilberto. Caetano said to have special attention on these extras with some conversation between the couple that really worth checking.
Tracks include:
Personnel
Helcio Milito (JG), Joe Hunt (SG)
(drums)
Keter Betts (JG), Gene Cherico (SG)
(bass)
Gary Burtun
(vibraphone)
Joao Gilberto
(voice, violao)
Stan Getz
(sax tenor)
Astrud Gilberto
(voice)
Track List
01 – Grandfather’s Waltz
02 – Tonight I Shall Sleep With a Smile On My Face
03 – Stan’s Blues
04 – Here’s That Rainy Day
05 – Samba da Minha Terra
06 – Rosa Morena
07 – Um Abraço no Bonfá
08 – Bim-bom
09 – Meditação
10 – O Pato
11 – It Might as Well be Spring
12 – Only Trust your Heart
13 – Corcovado
14 – Garota de Ipanema
15 – Eu e Voce
Attention: Last minute video featuring Joao Gilberto definitive rendition of Estate, performed at Termas de Caracalla, Rome, Italy, 1983. You cannot miss.

An interesting fact is, that in the years 1964-1966 the special guest on concerts with the Stan Getz Quartet was Carlos Lyra, only interrupted by this Carnegie Hall reunion with Joao Gilberto. Lyra performed with the Stan Getz Quartet 1964 at the Newport Festival and on tours in Europe and Japan. Unfortunaly no recording survives (but Carlos Lyra may be the guitar player on the “Getz au Go Go” Lp, not Kenny Burrell). The Newport concert was aired on radio, but did anybody record this?
Gary Burton told me the following by e-mail:
I do recall a live recording session, or maybe it was in a studio, I’m not sure. Stan typically would record the group about once a year on his own, usually a live performance of some kind. He never could convince his label to release any of these efforts, and as the years passed, the tapes were discarded. After Stan and his wife parted ways, there was a search to see if any of the tapes from several recording projects could be found, but nothing turned up. I have always assumed that they were just thrown away at some point as the Getz’s moved from house to house, etc.
If the tapes had ended up at the record label, they would have been released by now. But, since these were Stan’s own attempts to make records, the tapes were only in his possession.
Best regards, Gary
Do anybody out there know more about recordings or performances by Getz and Lyra together?

Hello B.J.,
How are you?
I don’t think it is possible to buy this album from Creed Taylor’s website, the “add to cart” icon for Getz/Gilberto#2 is missing.
Take a look at http://ctijazz.com/jobim-wave/ and you will see how different it is.

Definitivo.

Pedrinho Mattar Trio – No 3 (1965)
.
.
Originalmente postado no Loronix em 24 de setembro 2006.
Comentários originais incluídos.
These three LPs from the early Pedrinho Mattar as a trio are really outstanding. You had the chance to know the first one – in fact, a Quartet – a few posts ago, Pedrinho Mattar e Seu Conjunto – Bossa Nova (1963).
Now it is the time to know the third out of the three ones, Pedrinho Mattar Trio – No 3 (1965), now really as a trio with Pedrinho Mattar (piano), Antônio Pinheiro Filho (drums) and João Soto Aguilar (bass).
This is a nice SambaJazz LP that includes a composition from Tuca as you can see at the tracks included:
01 – Neurótico (J. B. Meirelles)
02 – Nanã (Moacir Santos / Mário Telles)
03 – Zero Hora (Adilson Godoy)
04 – Inútil Paisagem (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
05 – Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
06 – Quem É Homem Não Chora (Geraldo Vandré / Vera Brasil)
07 – A Morte de Um Deus de Sal (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
08 – Balansamba (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
09 – Você (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
10 – Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
11 – Pinkt (Maurício Einhorn)
12 – Balaiubá Xangô (Tuca)

João Donato – The New Sound of Brazil | Piano of João Donato (1965)

Originalmente postado no Loronix em 30 de outubro 2007.

I was browsing the posts made at the very beginning of Loronix wondering about one of those mandatory upgrades. I found this one and I understood immediately that I was in front of those ones who deserve better media and also visibility at the first page. However, opening the comment section, I found a writing of one of the most respectful and renowned fans of the music from Brazil, B.J. Major, the owner and maintainer of The Music Discographies at www.bjbear71.com, serving up the best selected discographies on selected musicians since 1999, which make me feel really moved. I will take the opportunity to bring B.J. Major comment to this post. I could not make better.
“I have to say something about this album, even though this is an older post and probably no one will see it. I have been acquainted with this album for several years. To learn about it was like getting hold of a treasure chest, with each track a shining colored jewel. This record is a masterpiece, totally exquisite. Donato’s playing is superb throughout. But what makes these jewels shine are the arrangements by Claus Ogerman. This is an album that deserves far more attention than it receives. It demands listening. Careful listening. The jewel that shines the brightest for me on the album is Donato’s “Jungle Flower”. Listen to what Claus does with the strings on opening, making them go higher and higher until you think they cannot go any higher. Then they do. This one track is worth the entire price of admission to the album.
I have nothing but superlatives to say about this album. There is not one flaw in it, not one tiny little mistake. It is absolute perfection and to me, is one of the greatest bossa nova albums ever recorded. An assemblance of unique craftsmanship and talent, from the composer right down to the arranger/conductor, who makes it all sing.” – B.J. Major.
Do not miss B.J. Major website at www.bjbear71.com and learn more about this album, Joao Donato and selected musicians.

Oh yeah! This is really a wonderful record. BJ really captures the beauty of this in his words. I couldn’t agree more. Donato’s piano playing is so achingly beautiful, each note with its own unique weight and careful attention. I’ve always wondered whether Brazilians thought these type of records were too “Americanized” (or more accurately, “U.S.ized”)…that somehow the rhythm was off. But to me it sounds pretty good. Goodwin and Richardson may not be Brazilian, but they certainly provide lovely support for Joao here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Zecalouro, you taught me about Joao Donato, and especially about this perfect album. Now I have an upgraded version of it because of this re-post, and I am extremely grateful.
Claus Ogerman is brilliant; his work on this album rivals that of Jobim’s Wave. When Diana Krall wanted to make a bossa album, she made sure to get Ogerman to help add authenticity. Like Owen Bradley in the field of American “countrypolitan” music, Ogerman’s sound is immediately recognizable.
I thank you again, Zecalouro, for this upgrade.

Altamiro Carrilho e Sua Bandinha – A Bordo do Vera Cruz (1960)
.
.
Originalmente postado no Loronix em 29 de outubro 2007.
Comentários originais incluídos.
Hello, good evening! It has been a very long time since we released an album by the Brazilian flutist virtuoso Altamiro Carrilho, an artist with a career that spans decades, since the late 30′s until today. Altamiro Carrilho is strongly associated with the Choro genre, but he recorded several other styles, including the one made available though this album, known as Musica de Banda, very similar to the recent albums released at Loronix recorded by military bands. Let’s see.
This is Altamiro Carrilho e Sua Bandinha – A Bordo do Vera Cruz (1960), for Copacabana, featuring a repertoire of Portuguese tunes performed as Musica de Banda. Vera Cruz is a Portuguese cruiser ship that made his first trip in 1952 and kept regular trips to Brazil during eight years. The front cover shows Altamiro Carrilho e Sua Bandinha inside Vera Cruz, which is also available at the picture on your left. I hope our very good friends from Portugal, which is country number 12 in terms of number of visits at Loronix.
Tracks include:
01 – Marcha do Centenário (Raul Ferrão / Frederico Brito)
02 – Coimbra (Raul Ferrão / José Galhardo)
03 – Vira do Minho (Tavares Bello)
04 – Arraial de Santo Antônio (Julio Dantas / Frederico de Freitas)
05 – Bailinho da Madeira (Maximiano Gomes / Mário Teixeira)
06 – Tiroliroliro (José Augusto de Souza Pinto)
07 – Cantiga da Rua (A. Melo / J. Bastos)
08 – Rosinha dos Limões (Artur Ribeiro)

09 – Uma Casa Portuguesa (Artur Fonseca / Reinaldo Ferreira / Vasco de Matos Sequeira)
10 – Corridinho 1951 (José Gomes Figueiredo)
11 – Canção do Mar (Ferrer Trindade / Frederico Brito)
12 – Ó Rosa Arredonda a Saia (A. Lopes)

Taiguara – Taiguara, Piano e Viola (1972)

I will be open and honest, I’m not versed on Taiguara discography and career. Caetano Rodrigues could say something; he introduced Taiguara to Loronixers, delivering his first and very hard to find LPs for Odeon. Besides these first albums, I never took any later Taiguara release for a spin, being this one the exception. Taiguara was an artist that could make nice things on several different styles, from Bossa Nova to political songs. I think this one shows a different Taiguara, more acoustic, not on social concerns, I hope someone brings more clarification on this Taiguara career stage. Let’s see.
This is Taiguara – Taiguara, Piano e Viola (1972), for Odeon, featuring Taiguara with a combo of piano (played by Taiguara), bass, drums, violao and guitar with arrangements by Eduardo Souto Neto, Lindolfo Gaya and Taiguara, orchestra arrangements in charge and conduced by Eduardo Souto Neto and Lindolfo Gaya. Taiguara released several hits in the early 70′s, but I could not identify some of them at this album, with the exception of the title track, Piano e Viola.
Tracks include:
Personnel
Lindolfo Gaya, Eduardo Souto Neto
(arrangements, orchestra arrangements)
Taiguara
(piano, electric piano, arrangements)
Menezes
(violao, viola)
Chiquito
(guitar)
Oswaldo Damiao
(bass)
Lula
(drums)
Track List
01 – Teu Sonho Não Acabou (Taiguara)
02 – O Troco (Taiguara)
03 – Manhã de Londres (Taiguara)
04 – Luzes (Taiguara)
05 – Pros Filhos do Zé (Taiguara)
06 – Rua dos Ingleses (Taiguara)
07 – Piano e Viola (Taiguara)
08 – Mudou (Taiguara)
09 – Pra Laetitia (Taiguara)
10 – A Flor na Areia (Taiguara)
11 – Eronita e Eu (Taiguara)
12 – O Homem (Taiguara)

Excelente disco desse magnífico artista, infelizmente falecido precocemente.
Zecalouro: você não conseguiria o disco do Taiguara “Canções de Amor e Liberdade ” ?

Zeca, you might be missing something if you don’t know any later Taiguara records. “Imyra, Tayra, Ipy, Taiguara” is probably the greatest Brazilian collection of songs ever put to tape. Taiguara’s previous work (including this one) is nice, but nothing compared to that timeless 1976 masterpiece, where the magician powers of Hermeto Pascoal and Wagner Tiso (and virtually every top-notch musician available) was employed to create the definitive soundtrack of a politically oppressed Brazil. There’s a full website devoted to this record athttp://www.imyra-tayra-ipy-taiguara.com, where everyone can confirm the magnitude of this statement and the very particular environment that led to it.

Hello, good evening! Great award received from Gravy Bread, thanks once again. Anyway, the music cannot stop, but needs to continue in a great style this time. We need to resume with something that represents the music from Brazil on a very special way and also giving a chance to new friends that are coming from Gravy Bread and Totally Fuzzy — another wonderful website aggregates Music Blogs, don’t miss it, right here:http://totallyfuzzy.blogspot.com — to make contact with a great artist.
I think Baden Powell is the right choice. Let’s see.
This is Baden Powell – Serie Autografos de Sucesso Nr. 2 (1973), for Fontana/Philips, featuring songs taken from four Baden Powell LPs, Baden Powell Swings with Jimmy Pratt, A Vontade, Tempo Feliz and O Som de Baden Powell. If you are looking for a single album that summarizes the best of Baden Powell on 12 songs, your search is over.
Tracks include:
01 – Berimbau
02 – Samba do Avião
03 – Deixa with Maurício Einhorn
04 – Lamento
05 – Samba Triste
06 – Sorongaio
07 – Coisa Nº 1 with Jimmy Pratt
08 – Deve Ser Amor with Jimmy Pratt
09 – Rosa Flor with Jimmy Pratt
10 – Round Midnight
11 – Tempo Feliz with Maurício Einhorn
12 – Canto de Xangô

Hello, good evening! Such as yesterday, Loronix starts today with another amazing cover artwork released by the obscure Internacional label. If we look back earlier Internacional label releases, we will see that cover artwork is really their business, as well their vinyl, very solid, heavy, playing very nice after 48 years. Let’s see.
This is Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – Dancando no Fred’s (1959), for Internacional. Dancando no Fred’s is the second album released by Antonio Guimaraes, an obscure Brazilian pianist that had some worldwide recognition for his album “Fabuloso!” recorded in 1963 for Chantecler, featuring a very early Airto Moreira playing drums. It is worth checking out if Airto Moreira has another participation on Antonio Guimaraes albums, since most of there records do not credit musicians. Anyway, the fans of the “Para Dancar” style will be really pleased after some days of hiatus.
Tracks include:
01 – Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Modugno / Migliacci)
02 – I Love You Samantha (Cole Porter)
03 – Dançando no Fred’s (Antônio Guimarães)
04 – Essa Diaba (Ary Barroso)
05 – Cachito (Consuelo Velasquez)
06 – Sube Y Baja El Telón (R. Ruiz)
07 – É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
08 – Lá Vem a Baiana (Dorival Caymmi)
09 – E a Chuva Parou (Ribamar (1) / Esdras Pereira da Silva / Victor Freire)
10 – Gondolier (Marcucci / De Angelis)
11 – Puente de Piedra (Carmelo Larrea)
12 – Interesseira (Murillo Latini / Bidú Reis)1 Comentários originais:
