Hello, good evening! This is a really solid start for this Friday, an album that easily deserves a closing post, but I’m so excited with this music that I could not wait longer to show Loronixers. This is the second solo LP of this truly awesome Brazilian singer that started as member of the Brazilian progressive band A Barca do Sol. By this time, Olivia Byington had the artistic name of Olivia, which makes me feel confused sometimes with Francis Hime wife, Olivia Hime. This is a pretty solid record. Let’s see.

This is Olivia – Anjo Caido (1980), for Som Livre, never released on CD and a very difficult to find album. I’m sure you will remember Olivia Byington participation as singer on Encontro, an album recorded live together with Turibio Santos, Paulo Moura and Clara Sverner. Encontro was almost chamber music, but Anjo Caido was recorded at a time Olivia Byington was still pursuing a career as a MPB singer. I think she made the right decision; Olivia Byington is a really gifted singer that performs wonderfully on classical and popular music. Anjo Vadio has also a beautiful participation of Egberto Gismonti at 10 – Mais Clara, Mais Crua, playing piano to Olivia Byington singing. Really breathtaking, you should not miss this one.

Zeca, this is an amazing coincidence. Just as I tuned in to Loronix, I was listening to Olivia’s superb new album (on Biscoito Fino), while downloading a video of her singing Carmen Miranda off YouTube.
Yes, Anjo Vadio has some great tracks — Mais Clara, Mais Crua is a masterpiece (it’s better known by its title as an instrumental, Palhaço). I had no idea, listening to the cruddy MP3s I have of this, that so many great musicians were involved.
Thanks so much for posting this!

Zeca, there’s a tragically bad skip near the end of Mais Clara, Mais Crua, at about 4:53. Any chance of a fix?

all skips are tragic, but a skip at this album is a major issue. I did not mention before how scratch I found this vinyl.
By the way, this is the only issue or you heard eventual pops, clicks and clacks everywhere?
A fix is on the way.

Zeca,
Having confessed that you were excited with Olivia Byington’s music (not to mention a possible aftereffect of scanning the front cover), it’s easy to understand that you got confused regarding Olivia Hime. She’s not Francis’ sister but his wife.
Thanks for this nice album.
Cheers!

Caro Zeca,
Tenho tentado diariamente baixar este album (Olivia – Anjo Vadio)mas sempre recebo uma mensagem do RapidShare dizendo “Too many users downloading right now. Please try again in two minutes or get a PREMIUM-Account”.
Ironicamente eu consigo baixar qualquer outro album sem problemas.
Tambem nao tive problemas embaixar a faixa 10 que foi corrigida.
E antes que eu me esqueca (perdao pela falta de acentos e cedilhas), parabens pelo blog. O acervo e’ simplesmente espetacular.
